The Seattle, WA office of Schnabel Engineering is currently seeking a Senior Staff Geotechnical Engineer to support our growing business. Schnabel’s Seattle location, a small and growing office established in 2017, offers a challenging and team-oriented work environment focused on high-profile projects for private and public sector clients across the US.
Qualifications for the position include a Masters Degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering from an accredited university. Prior professional work experience or a summer internship in a related field is preferred, and successful completion of the E.I.T. is also beneficial. Entry-level applicants and those with up to 3 years of experience will be considered for this position. Candidates must possess good oral and written communications skills, computer literacy, and a positive attitude.
The emphasis for this position is broadening practical knowledge and experience as well as applying professional principles to real problems under the supervision of senior engineering personnel. Responsibilities will include performing slope stability and seepage analyses; estimation of settlement and lateral earth pressures; liquefaction and earthquake engineering analyses; retaining wall design; reinforced concrete design; preparation of construction plans; drafting reports; and performing construction observation, geotechnical investigations, and materials testing related to the evaluation, design and construction of earth and concrete dams.
