Senior Geotechnical Transportation Engineer

Schnabel Engineering is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer with experience managing transportation projects, including design-build, to support our growing business. Options for the location of this position include our office in Alpharetta, GA; Wilmington, NC; Richmond, VA; Sterling, VA; Rockville, MD; Baltimore, MD; Dallas, TX; or West Chester, PA. Other office locations are also available.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Review project documents and geotechnical reports
  • Communicate project conditions and potential solutions to technical engineering staff
  • Develop scope of services and fee estimates
  • Develop and supervise the development of engineering sketches or drawings, engineering calculations, and project specifications
  • Oversee field observation by field personnel during construction
  • Develop reports and written communication with clients
  • Enforce quality procedures of Schnabel Engineering
  • Manage own time and staff’s time according to project budget
  • Perform project management roles including maintenance of client communication, project scope and budget review, invoice review and accounts receivable
  • Manage client relationships and business development opportunities

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering; Master’s degree preferred
  • Professional engineering license
  • 10+ years of demonstrated geotechnical engineering experience
  • 5+ years of project management experience for large transportation projects
  • Design-build experience
  • Extensive knowledge of civil and transportation engineering
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Effective analytical and time management skills
  • Efficient at balancing multiple concurrent tasks, responsibilities, and commitments
  • Ability to conduct business travel

Desired Skills/Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience with geotechnical engineering project management for transportation projects, including design-build
